How does the clutch work?
It's like all motorbike parts: Basically, it's quite simple. A clutch is a connection between two technical components. In this case, the clutch connects or separates the engine and moped gearbix. Whether you are travelling on a Puch X30 or a Maxi, the principle is the same. The clutch is used to transfer the engine power to the gearbox. If you want to change gear or bring the motorbike to a halt without the engine stopping, you have to pull the clutch. But what happens when you do this? In order for the clutch to transmit the power correctly, several springs in the pressure plate press the clutch discs together. If you operate the clutch, the power transmission is disconnected. Manual motorbikes work in this way, while centrifugal force takes over in an automatic. As the engine speed increases, this physical law ensures that the connection closes or separates, or shifts to the next gear.
