Ready-to-install pull-start starter for clockwise-rotating Puch Maxi S / N or Puch Supermaxi LG1 mopeds with an E50 engine and Selettra racing ignition.
Unlike many conventional designs, this cable starter features a precision-machined cable pulley made of glass-fiber-reinforced plastic and a perfectly fitting retractor. The durable stainless-steel return spring ensures smooth retraction, while the specially woven starter cord operates reliably even under regular use.
The pull-start system was tested under the toughest racing conditions by our Mofacross team. This pull-start system is ideal for all enthusiasts who value robust construction, precise operation, and reliable starting performance.
The complete pull-start system is assembled in-house and inspected and tested according to strict specifications. This way, you’re always ready to go—even when you need to get moving quickly.
Installation:
- Starter pinion: Clean the Selettra flywheel, then screw the counterpart for the cable-pull starter onto the flywheel (secure with the included screws using Loctite).
- Cable-pull starter: Position the starter housing correctly and tap it gently with a plastic hammer until the cable-pull starter fits perfectly. It can then be screwed into place.
Operation:
- Before starting, slowly pull the cord a few times to let the engine idle (must be done before every start attempt).
- Pull out the recoil starter handle until it locks into place and you feel resistance. Then pull it through in one smooth motion.
Tip: Wear gloves! Hold the handle firmly.
Note: The original kick-start mechanism can no longer be used because the pedal arms interfere with the pull-starter housing. Therefore, footrests, a longer pedal shaft, or a pedal shaft extension must be installed.
The cable-pull starter cannot be used in conjunction with a PVL ignition system.
