Reinforced housing for the gearbox on your Piaggio moped / moped with variomatic drive or your mono model which is to be converted to Vario.
The racing gearbox housing has been redesigned and improved from the ground up. Inside, it has additional cast struts and the gearbox cover is now bolted on with five bolts instead of the usual four. This ensures greater overall stability and improved sealing. The precisely milled guide for the brake pad ensures that the pad surface is pressed evenly into the brake drum.
In addition, the racing gearbox has a ventilation system that prevents oil from splashing onto the rim via the overrun at high speeds.
The scope of delivery includes all necessary screws, oil seals and bearings.
Notes:
The variator housing fits into the frame of the Piaggio Si Europe (with a central shock absorber) and the Piaggio Boxer without any modifications. On the Ciao, Si Montecarlo (with shock absorbers) and Bravo, however, adaptations to the frame are necessary, whereby a piece about 15 mm long must be cut out due to the fifth screw on the gearbox cover.
In contrast to the original, the Vario gearbox does not have a device for the Velo gear, which is why this can no longer be used.
Sealing is achieved using sealing compound. A separate gearbox seal is therefore not required.
In our tests, we used Malossi HTQ gear sprockets, a Pinasco gearbox and the original internals. The accuracy of fit with the Malossi and original gears was excellent. The Pinasco gearbox jammed during assembly and could therefore not be tested in operation.
